First panel completed

Of the carved panels which will not require LED light as a component the swan figure is the first to be complete carved and painted. Althoug the others are quite far along they require assembly on sight with the installer and electricians. Next up in the coming days are the Junco bird and Coyotes and grandson of dog panel. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates. Lots happening in the shop. My son was very happy to see the panel done and wanted to take a photo with it. I thought it would be a good scale reference since it's hard to tell without something to gauge by. Thanks for visiting.

Tools expand to meet demand

For those of you who are familiar with my process you know I use digital tools for many aspects of my art. This past couple weeks I've been digging into Google Sketchup Pro 8 to help along installation planning and it's proven to be a life saver. I thought I would share a video of one I've done for the Chehalis project as I am familiarizing myself with the program I hope to be able to convey more complex ideas in 3d space. The time saver it's becoming is invaluable so now I add another software program to the list. It's worth looking into for designers.

SAM Apparel Partnership update

Today's meeting went well and we've made progress on getting closer to refining the selections from the prototypes and the very appreciated client feedback from your end. From the meeting notes it looks like we are aiming at a June release date for the shirts. In the next couple weeks we will be looking at promotion and marketing. For those who sign up for email announcements to our updates we will keep you posted  on our final selection progress along with promotional exclusivitiy before the public launch. We are very excited to work with the museum and as well quite importantly hear from you and what you'd like to see. Thanks for your input thus far. In the meantime progress continues on the the Chehalis project which has mostly been layout which doesn't photograph well, on that front, metal and glass work will be making big strides next week so stay tuned for that come Wednesday. Progress on Eagles Landing Hotel

Today along with the help of Artech installer Bernie O'Brien the main pieces for the Panel V section were installed for the West Wall project today. In the coming days the red cedar laminations will be coming back to the studio to begin carving of the Swan, Coyotes, Junco and Sun and Moon pieces. I'll be posting updates as those come in along with the next phase of aluminum work followed by the water jet cut and blasted glass pieces. Be sure to check in within a couple days.

Pleasant visit to Goddard College

Steve Brown, Shaun Peterson, Erin Fristad 

It was a great visit to the Goddard College campus last week. It was only on questioning before setting up the laptop for a test check with the staff that I realized I'd never presented with my mentor Steve Brown before. I figured that it being a first and a big one at that I wanted a photo taken so the staff obliged. It went well and I met a number of talented and interesting people from all kinds of places. Looking forward to going back in May to help with some tool making, firing up the forge to shape some steel with Mr. Brown.
